Opening address by Ambassador N.Murat Ersavcı on the occasion of the National Day Concert organized by TÖSED - 30 EKİM 2009

Distinguished guests,
Good Evening!

As the new Turkish Ambassador to Belgium, it is a great pleasure for me to be asked to make the welcoming address of this musical evening organised by the Turkish Business Association.

The event marks the 86th Anniversary of the Proclamation of the Republic of Turkey.

Tonight, we have for you, a talented group of young Turkish Musicians and it is my privilege to introduce you the Semplice Quartet and the soloist Ms. Hande Sarıcı. The programme that they have prepared for you is comprised of a diverse repertoire.

In recent years, Turkish artists have emerged as a new voice on the global art scene and gained international recognition. They truly represent the spirit of contemporary Turkey: an enthusiastic, dynamic society with many talented young people abreast with the art scenes of Europe and the rest of the world.

In this context, the vibrant cultural life of Brussels offers a fertile ground for cooperation between Turkish and European artists.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my appreciation to the members of the Turkish Business Association for their numerous significant events in promoting Turkey and also the young Turkish musicians in Belgium.

Let me further acknowledge the contribution of the “Godiva” chocolates that will make our evening even more delightful.
